What is Congruence?
Congruence is a state where every fiber of your being is in agreement. It is a state where your attention is without internal conflict. Whether you are communicating with your team members or following your plan of financial independence, no part is whispering, “I’m better off without these people” or “Something unspiritual like money should not be my goal”
Legendary athletes, musicians, poets, entrepreneurs, etc do their world-class work and get their game-changing ideas in the state of total congruence. Congruence has always been emphasized by many ancient wisdom traditions, in many different ways. Yin-Yang, Ikigai, Trikarana Shuddhi, etc are various expressions of the quality of Congruence.
Why Congruence is essential for Leaders?
Congruence is the most important quality required to be an effective leader. A vision can turn into reality only if the leader and the team members are congruent with it.
A major issue that sabotages the team’s progress is lack of congruence which can express in many ways, such as : person’s inner conflict between individual needs and the team’s priorities. So, as leaders, we not only have to develop Congruence within ourselves but also inspire this quality in our team members.
How to develop Congruence?
There are various levels on which a person can get into internal conflict and there are pitfalls that one could fall into during the journey towards congruence.
There are many people who want to live by a set of values, or an ethical code passed from their elders. But when this doesn’t happen in a congruent way, it can lead to friction and turmoil within, and can result in a duplicitous and hypocritical lifestyle. Maybe you personally experienced this.
You might also be familiar with certain kind of people who claim to be living life on their terms, and they often use words such as “freedom”, “enjoyment”, etc. But when we observe closely – they are just in a reactive/impulsive mode, living life in an arrogant and irresponsible way, that causes harm to themselves and the people around them. This is again a consequence of not developing congruence in an effective way.
I have done extensive research and experimentation regarding congruence and have come up with a unique approach towards it! All my trainings are essentially towards this – on how to effectively develop Congruence.
